Developmental Edit
This is the most time-intensive and in-depth of my services. On first pass (entails reading manuscript twice), I'll make margin notes using Track Changes in Word, then write a detailed Editorial letter addressing what I see in terms of structure, pacing, consistency/ inconsistency (of voice, character, POV, theme, action, setting). I'll point out what's working well as well as areas that need strengthening and provide big-picture revision suggestions. I'll make a second pass (entails reading revised manuscript once) and give you feedback on your changes (does not include proofreading). $0.04-0.05 per word

Line Edit
This service is best suited to a manuscript that is sound in terms of structure, pacing and character/theme development. Here, I'll help you perfect your text, strengthen your prose, and ensure consistency of style. Line by line, I'll check for and clarify things like word choice, sentence structure, consistency in style, verb tense and any other issues related to overall readability. A Line Edit includes two Editorial passes using Track Changes in Word and can be combined with a discounted proofread edit. $0.02-0.03 per word

Manuscript Evaluation
Whether you're just starting, stuck in the middle, or have a full draft, a manuscript evaluation can be helpful. For this service, I'll evaluate your writing for big-picture strengths and weaknesses and write you an Editorial letter with suggestions for revision. Areas I may address include characterization, POV, conflict/tension, description, inconsistencies, pacing, passive writing, scene, plot, or thematic development, and showing vs. telling. If warranted, consistent grammatical errors will be pointed out, but margin comments will not be made on the manuscript. $0.02 per word
